What we see on Peoria homes

The median house in Peoria was built in 1966, and 54.5% of the housing stock there predates 1970. 54,526 housing units, 58.2% of the occupied ones owner-occupied, which is a lower share than most of the towns we cover. A good deal of what we look at here is a rental or a recent purchase, and in both cases the useful question is what has to be done now against what can wait. 21.9% of it predates 1940, which usually means cast iron, a floor that has taken eighty years of water, and a room never laid out for a modern shower. The cast iron goes with us.

Bathrooms in postwar houses are typically five feet across with the tub at one end, and the tile is either original or an eighties refresh laid over the top of it. Where those rooms fail is the grout at the tub-to-wall joint. Water has been getting behind it for years by the time anyone notices the floor flexing. Once the surround is out we can see how far it traveled, and that is the point where the honest scope of the job becomes clear. On a full remodel the order is what matters: the room comes out, whatever is behind the walls gets put right, and only then does anything new go in.

What the water does here

Illinois American Water, Peoria District publishes a total hardness of 19 to 37 grains per gallon for Peoria, which is very hard.

Water that hard is why a tiled shower in Peoria looks tired years before it should. Calcium comes out of solution on every surface it touches, and grout is porous, so it goes into the joint rather than sitting on top of it. No amount of scrubbing gets it back out. A non-porous High Performance Polymer Acrylic surround has no joint for it to get into, which is most of the reason people who have replaced one do not go back to tile.

Two things people in Peoria ask

Do I need a permit for this in Peoria?

It depends on the scope, and City of Peoria Building Inspections is the office that decides. We check before the crew is booked and we pull the permit when one is needed, so it is never something you find out about halfway through.

My experience starts with Rodger Barton. In Turkish time and spent quite a bit of time with me telling me what was going to happen and how it was going to happen and who was going to make it happen. Instant a young man by the name of Adrian to do the work. Adrian exceed my expectations on how my bathroom was going to be transformed. Once he started he worked till 8:00 that evening and came back the next morning at 8:00 to finish the product. He not only installed my new shower and took out the old bathtub but he also installed a new vanity and a new toilet and when he was all installing he went to caulking everything the way it should be. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to explain how happy I am and proud of what he done with my bathroom. It is absolutely beautiful. If anybody is considering a bathroom remodel they should get ahold of this company. They tell you what they are going to do and then they do it

Had the pleasure of speaking with Dallas about an upcoming bathroom remodel, I plan on. Dallas was very informative and knowledgeable about discussing prices and different options and styles I could go with. Very polite and easy to work with. Definitely will be contacting again when I am ready to do the remodel!

Met with Dallas to plan a remodel of our guest bathroom. Dallas thoroughly walked us threw the process, showed us all of the materials and designs that best fit our needs and budget for our bathroom remodel. We are excited to see the completed project. Dallas was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with through this process.

Their office called my company to provide an estimate for carpet cleaning. Our estimate was accepted and we carpet cleaned two locations in Creve Couer, Illinois today. In my business one can always evaluate a business by how they prepare for an event (carpet cleaning). In this case it was 5 star and I really appreciate the effort in preparation. Sam, the General Manager, delegated himself to meet my team on this cold Saturday afternoon. I’m always impressed by a leader that leads by example and Sam is just that. I witnessed him walking around with a spray bottle and cleaning walls, etc. I’m guessing he’s the Head Janitor as well. My wife and I are considering getting two bathrooms remodeled in our home in Normal, Illinois. I can see myself doing business with Perfect Exteriors and Bathrooms based on this experience today. Win win!!!

Great place to do business with, work was fast and on time. They answered all my questions when I called and completed a bathroom remodel for me which looks fantastic! Will definitely chose them for future projects 👍

I was very impressed with the work done by Perfect Choice. They were great with communicating with me on my process, answering any questions I had, and having a great product. I’m very happy with my new bathroom remodel. Would recommend to all friends and family.

Having 2 bathroom remodels done by Perfect Choice, we were very impressed with the Quality of both the product and the EXCELLENT work of the installers. They were very polite and respectful, and did very EXCELLENT job of the installations. My wife and I would highly recommend this company, for remodel and installations, and are very very happy with their product and work. Quad Cities, Illinois. Thank you….PERFECT CHOICE

We were thoroughly pleased with the hard work and professionalism of Don, Paul, and Justin. We appreciated their dedication and commitment to getting our job done with very tight time constraints. They are the A-Team of bathroom remodelling, as far as we're concerned! We also appreciated Denny's responsiveness and drive to help assemble a team who could get our job done. Thanks gentlemen!

Anthony and Dan did an excellent job remodeling our bathroom. They were very professional. Each day when they left, there was no sign of their presence other than in the bathroom. I would recommend them!

Could not be happier with my experience with Perfect Choice!! Recently bought a new house, the previous owners had replaced half the windows in the house. After talking with multiple companies, we chose Perfect Choice to finish with our window replacement. Their sales people and installers are incredibly nice and professional and pleasant to work with. Everything was straight forward and no one ever got “pushy”. Windows were installed very quickly, and they were even able to address issues with the previous owners’ window installations (I guess when you buy windows 2 for 1, they only install them half way). My house looks absolutely fantastic and immediately we could tell a difference in our A/C efficiency. We are likely going to do some bathroom remodeling sometime in the future. It’s nice knowing that when we decide to do that, we only have to bother calling one company, Perfect Choice.

The bathroom remodel job that was completed last week was an amazing experience from start to finish . The office staff is so professional and was willing to accommodate any of my needs with questions I had concerning the project . The crew that came finished in two days and did a wonderful clean up job . I can't believe how my bathroom has transformed into something i never imagined. Perfect Choice installed 6 windows for me 2 years ago as well. I would recommend them for any of your home improvement needs!!!

I am so glad that I went with Perfect Choice Exteriors for my bathroom renovation project. They did an amazing job, and it turned out better than I ever could have imagined. Thank you, Perfect Choice, for making my dreams come true.
